Local Pediatrician Dr. Irwin Berkowitz

Shaw’s Book Shop is happy to announce that local author and noted Pediatrician Dr. Irwin Berkowitz will join us on Saturday, May 31 from 1:00pm until 3:00pm.  He will be signing “Instructions not Included”, which was recently released.    Come and celebrate Dr. Berkowitz’s first book.  Shaw’s Book Shop is located at 79 Westwood Avenue, Westwood.

 With four decades of pediatric practice, Chestnut Ridge Pediatric’s own Dr. Berkowitz has penned his words of wisdom in a wonderful parenting guide and medical memoir.  Drawing on the commonsense tradition of beloved pediatrician and parenting guide author Dr. Benjamin Spock, “Instructions not Included” offers new (and newly flummoxed) parents the sound advice and heartfelt encouragement they need to bring up some of the best kids on the block.

 “I take great pride in my experience, medical knowledge, caring attitude and bowtie collection. Little children like my fuzzy beard and shiny head. In addition I am an excellent listener often picking up clues that allow me to make diagnoses without excessive laboratory testing. I have a special interest in the parental child interaction, ADHD and asthma.”  Says Dr. Berkowitz.

 Dr. Berkowitz is the past director of the Department of Pediatrics at the Valley

Hospital.   In 2013 he was awarded both New York Magazine’s as well as Castle Connelly’s ‘Top Doc” honor for the New York Metropolitan area in addition to New Jersey Family’s 'New Jersey Favorite Kids' Doc’.

 Dr. Berkowitz and his wife of more than 30 years, Kathleen, live in Ho-Ho-Kus and have two wonderful sons, Benjamin and Jonathan.
