The Orpheus Club Men’s Chorus of Ridgewood will perform at the Kasschau Memorial Shell, behind the Ridgewood Library on Veterans Field, on Tuesday evening, July 8, 2014 at 8:30 pm as part of the Village’s “Free Concert Under the Stars!” series.
Founded in 1909 the Orpheus Club is the oldest cultural institution in the Village, featuring a chorus of over 50 men. Under the direction of John Palatucci, and accompanied by pianist Ron Levy, the Chorus’ repertoire extends to musical genres from classical to hip-hop, from Broadway tunes to sea shanties.
The July 8 concert will feature “Flanders Fields,” “Shenandoah,” “America the Beautiful,” a medley from “My Fair Lady,” and the Bruno Mars hit “Just the Way You Are,” among other selections. Linda Sweetman-Waters will accompany the Chorus as guest pianist. The Orpheus Club will also welcome to the stage “Express Male,” a sextet vocal ensemble within the Morris Choral Society.
Admission to the concert is free. Those attending should bring their own lawn chair or blanket.
