It’s starting to get hot. I love the hot summer weather. This was a long, cold winter. We all suffered daily bundling up to stay warm in the frozen north east. Now it’s time to rip those clothes off and enjoy the sun. I know we were all anticipating jumping into last year’s swimsuit but that cold winter was not kind to some of us. It’s more like squeezing into that swimsuit and saying ouch when we look in the mirror. That may not be you but that’s how I feel. However, it’s still June; there is no reason to panic.
The summer can be salvaged if we start to make immediate changes to how we eat and live NOW! Start by setting a short-term goal to finish the summer strong. Say by Labor Day I will have the hottest butt leaving the beach. Try my method: eat all your lean protein cooked on a grill with the exception of eggs. Chicken, fish, and beef take very little time to prepare and are easy to cook. Do not eat processed carbohydrates or grains including quinoa substitute with fibrous carbohydrates like greens and zucchini. Raw vegetables can be eaten on the run with little or no preparation. Fruits are fine unless you decide to go into a bodybuilding show; then they are off limits. Small portions of dairy are great but only in the morning.
Most importantly, apply my 80/20 Rule. Follow the meal instructions 80% of the day or week and the other 20% you can enjoy a dessert, a snack, a glass of wine. That’s a glass of wine not a bottle! Good Luck.
