Life's WORC, Family Center for Autism Praise Geraldo Rivera's 'Celebrity Apprentice' Run

Garden City-based organization provides services to hundreds with developmental disabilities.

Just two months into the year, 2015 is proving to be a monstrously successful one for Life’s WORC and The Family Center for Autism.

The Garden City-based non-profit was featured time and time again on the reality show “Celebrity Apprentice.”

Journalist Geraldo Rivera battled until the last episode of the show in support of Life’s WORC and eventually raised a total $725,000 for the organization.

“Geraldo has given Life’s WORC/Family Center For Autism a magic key of opportunity that many other non-profits dream about,” said Executive Director Janet Koch, praising Rivera’s ongoing support of the organization and his fighting spirit on “Apprentice.”

“Geraldo carried out his assignments with such passion and devotion as his recognition that everything he was doing was helping Life’s WORC,” said Koch. “In the past Geraldo has attended many of our fundraisers including an annual golf tournament which he personally spearheads. He always talks up our agency among the many movers & shakers he encounters.”

Life’s WORC was established 44 years ago by Queens Courier publisher Victoria Schneps. It has been continuously recognized thanks to Rivera’s support and promotion. Today, they provide services and support to 1,400 individuals and their families.
