Man Faces Attempted Murder Charges Related to Glen Cove Shooting, Home Invasion

He is being held on $2 million dollars bail.

Authorities have charged a man with attempted murder for the Glen Cove home invasion that led to a 22-year-old man getting shot in the chest in late September, according to Glen Cove Police.

Darrin Sims, 28, of Hempstead, was arrested Tuesday and charged with second degree attempted murder of a 22-year-old man inside the 1 Eldridge Place home on Wednesday, Sept. 30.

While at the Glen Cove Police Department, Sims was also charged with first degree burglary and two counts of robbery for a Massapequa home invasion that occurred in 2014.

He was arraigned Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead. He is being held on $2 million dollars bail.

Former Glen Cove resident David Shuler, 20, also faces charges for the Eldridge Place home invasion. He was arrested Oct. 7 and charged with first degree burglary and first degree attempted robbery.

Following the home invasion, detectives executed a search warrant at the 1 Eldridge Place home and subsequently arrested the gunshot victim’s brother on Monday.

Leo Duchnowski, 24, was charged with two counts of fifth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell and second degree criminal possession of marijuana.

The shooting victim, Milo Duchnowski, was reportedly critically injured from the shooting. He is recovering from a gunshot wound to his chest and is expected to survive, police said.

Authorities are still investigating the incident.
