Great Neck Resident Accused of Assaulting Fraternity Pledge at Syracuse University
The victim was left in a basement for about two hours and was then beaten, according to reports.

A Great Neck resident and Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity member at Syracuse University is accused of beating a pledge in the basement of a fraternity house in April.
Fraternity pledge Ethan Strauss said in a statement that he was left in a basement for two hours and was then hit in the face several times by Joshua Weisfeld on Thursday, April 9, Oneida Daily Dispatch reports.

Weisfeld, 22, was charged with with third-degree assault.
Strauss was treated for a concussion and perforated eardrum at Upstate University Hospital and was told he might need surgery on his eardrum if it does not properly heal, according to Syracuse.com.

The alleged assault didn’t meet the campus’ standard of criminal hazing, but the fraternity was ordered to suspend activities while authorities investigate the incident, according to the publication.
