
A Brentwood man was arrested soon after he robbed a Hauppauge bank Tuesday afternoon, police said.
According to police, Nicholas Arettines, 31, entered Bank of America, located at 190 Motor Parkway, approached a teller at about 3:55 p.m. and displayed a note demanding cash.
The teller complied with the robber’s demands and gave him cash from the drawer, police said.

Arettines fled the bank, possibly to a waiting vehicle, police said.
Responding officers interviewed multiple witnesses and were able to determine that Arettines fled southbound to the vicinity of Brentwood State Park, where he was located and taken into custody, police said.

Arettines was charged with third degree robbery and is being held overnight at the Fourth Precinct. He is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday.
The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
