Red Hook Motorcyclist Injured Striking Car
Police said the car failed to yield the right of way to the motorcyclist.
RED HOOK, NY — A Red Hook motorcyclist was seriously injured Monday when he hit a car on Route 9G.
Red Hook Police Department said the incident happened around 11:20 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Rokeby Road and Route 9G.
The investigation found that a 34-year-old Red Hook man, driving a 1986 Suzuku motorcycle, was traveling north on Route 9G approaching Rokeby Road.

A 20-year-old Irvington woman, who was driving a 2011 Toyota, had been stopped on Rokeby Road and proceeded east through the intersection.
Police said the woman didn't yield to the motorcycle and caused it to strike the rear of the Toyota.

The motorcyclist was ejected, and the motorcycle slid off the west shoulder, where it caught on fire.
The man was seriously injured and airlifted to Westchester Medical Center where he was listed in stable condition.
The woman was not injured and was ticketed for failing to yield the right of way at an intersection.
Red Hook police were assisted by the Red Hook Fire Company, Northern Dutchess Paramedics and the New York State Police.
