Mount Vernon Sanitation Worker Shot While Collecting Garbage
The city workers were collecting garbage when an unknown person began shooting at them, striking one public works employee.

MOUNT VERNON, NY — An employee of the Mount Vernon Department of Public Works was shot on North Terrace Avenue, while collecting trash this morning.
On Friday, shortly before 8:30 a.m., Mount Vernon police were called to North Terrace Avenue for a report of a shooting with an injury. When officers arrived, they found 25-year-old Daquan Moore suffering from gunshot wounds to both of his legs.

Moore was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx and is expected to make a full recovery.

Mount Vernon police learned that Moore, along with other employees of the Department of Public Works, were on North Terrace Avenue, collecting garbage when an unknown person began shooting at them, striking Moore.
The shooter then fled the area on foot and remains at large, according to police.
Mount Vernon police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact the MVPD Detective Division at 914-665-2510. All calls will be kept confidential, according to police. Anonymous tips can also be submitted via MVPD "Text-A-Tip" by texting "MVPD" and the tip to 847411. Information can also be sent anonymously using the "Mount Vernon PD" app, available in the Google Play and Apple store.
