Local Restaurant Awarded Slow Food East End's First Ever 'Snail of Approval'
The honor was awarded during a celebratory dinner at the restaurant last week.

Slow Food East End awarded its first “Snail of Approval” to the North Fork Table and Inn during a celebratory dinner at the Southold restaurant on Tuesday, Dec. 9.
Since its founding 10 years ago, the North Fork Table and Inn has offered a progressive American menu focused on locally grown produce, seafood from local waters, local artisanal cheeses and Long Island wines.

Mike Mraz, one of the owners of The North Fork Table and Inn, accepted the award presented by Slow Food East End Chair Judiann Carmack-Fayyaz.
Mraz represented his partners Chef Gerry Hayden, Chef Claudia Fleming and Mary Mraz in accepting the award.

Snail of Approval Committee members Robin Tyson-Stoehr, Jeannie Calderale, and Tullia Limarzi explained the requirements to adhere to Slow Food’s principles of “good, clean, and fair” food.
The Snail of Approval was created to support businesses that contribute to the quality, sustainability, and authenticity of food and beverages on the East End.
The nomination process is now open to qualifying restaurants. Other food purveyors and wineries will be considered in the coming year.
