Northport Police To Protect Stores Against Serial Knifepoint Robber

Extra patrols will monitor Northport businesses the serial robber is most likely to target.

Northport Police will provide extra patrols to certain businesses in the area in response to a serial knifepoint robber who has been hitting fast food establishments across Nassau County and possibly Suffolk County.

Extra patrols will be at Carvel, located at 525 Fort Salonga Road, during the store’s business hours, with special attention during the evening hours.

Northport officers have also been instructed to pay special attention to the Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin-Robbins stores on Fort Salonga Road even though these businesses are not within their jurisdiction.

Police urge residents to immediately call 911 if they see anything suspicious at these locations.

In these robberies, a man displaying a large knife or machete enters the store, usually in the evening hours, and demands cash. The knife-wielding robber most recently hit a Subway shop in Plainview on Tuesday night.

So far, the knife-wielding robber has struck:

  • Tuesday, Feb. 16: Attempted robbery at Dunkin' Donuts, located at 4007 Merrick Road in Seaford. Read more here.

  • Tuesday, March 28: Subway, located at 347 Old Country Road in Carle Place. Read more here.

A similar robbery has also occurred in Suffolk County. A Carvel in Lake Ronkonkoma was robbed at knifepoint on Sunday, April 2. It is not confirmed if this robbery was found to be part of the pattern.

Police described the man as 5 feet 6 inches tall to 5 feet 8 inches tall, and wearing a dark-knit cap with a brim, a dark-colored scarf over his face, a dark-colored jacket, jeans, gloves and tan shoes.
