Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Port Jeff Crash
Police are investigating a crash that seriously injured a Port Jefferson Station man.
Sixth Squad detectives from the Suffolk County Police Department are investigating a crash that seriously injured a Port Jefferson Station man last night.
Suffolk County Police and Port Jefferson Volunteer Ambulance received a 911 call for a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. The location was at the Long Island Rail Road crossing on Route 25A in Port Jefferson Village. Upon arrival a male victim was found laying in the roadway.
Macario Jimenez, 58, was crossing the street on Route 25A when he was struck by a 1999 Honda Civic that was traveling southbound on Route 25A at 9:02 p.m. Port Jefferson Volunteer Ambulance transported Jimenez to Stony Brook University Hospital in serious condition.

A witness at the Islandwide Taxi service said: “I heard the brakes lock up and I heard a loud thump. When I came out of the door I had realized someone had gotten hit.”
The driver of the Honda, a 49-year-old West Islip man, was not injured. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.
