Nearby: Man Surrenders in Deadly Freeport Shooting
Autrey Smith surrendered Thursday and was charged with second-degree murder, cops said.

A Roosevelt man was charged in a Freeport shooting that left a man dead, according to Nassau County Police.
Autrey Smith, 21, was charged with two counts of second-degree murder and will be arraigned Friday at First District Court in Hempstead.

Smith was identified as the man responsible for firing a semi-automatic gun into a crowd at a house party just after 1 a.m. Sunday, cops said.

Police rushed to the Colonial Avenue home and found the victim, Lyreek Crawley, 21, had died from a gunshot wound to the head, cops said.
Detectives identified Smith as the gunman Wednesday. He surrendered at Baldwin’s First Precinct at 3 p.m. Thursday, police said.
