Suit: Rockville Centre Surgeon Ridiculed Employee for Having Cancer
Woman is suing Neurological Surgery doctor who allegedly betrayed confidence, quickly fired her as part of reorganization, report states.

A former employee of a Rockville Centre neurosurgery practice has filed a suit against her employer for allegedly ridiculing her for having cancer and later firing her, according to the New York Daily News.
Hilda Mayer, 47, of Roslyn, said Neurological Surgery CEO Michael Brisman “belittled” her after she revealed she had been diagnosed with stage-three cancer in December 2013, according to the report.
Mayer, who had worked at Neurological surgery for six years, filed a suit Wednesday in Brooklyn Federal Court. The suit claims Brisman revealed Mayer had cancer to others in the office, “openly mocked” her disease, “blamed her throughout the office for causing the company’s insurance premiums to increase,” and was told to wear a wig because of her thinning hair, among other accusations.
