Police: Man Crashes Car, Breaks Into Oyster Bay Cove Home, Kills Cat, Menaces Drivers With Kitchen Knife
Nicholas Patrikis faces multiple charges after alleged crime spree in Oyster Bay Cove.

A Huntington man crashed a Jeep into a fence, burglarized a home, killed a cat and then menaced drivers with a kitchen knife in Oyster Bay Cove on Wednesday morning, according to Nassau police.
Nicholas Patrikis, 23, faces numerous charges following the alleged path of destruction.

Patrikis, of Royal Oak Drive, while operating a 2000 Jeep Wrangler (owned by another) northbound on Cove Road, lost control of the vehicle causing him to strike a snow bank and fence in front of a residence on Royston Lane. The defendant then exited the vehicle, scaled the fence of an unoccupied home, broke the front glass door and entered the residence. He proceeded to ransack several rooms, destroying personal property, and took and undisclosed amount of jewelry. Additionally, the defendant caused the death of the victim’s pet cat by unknown means. Upon exiting the residence, the defendant took a kitchen knife, which he used to menace several motorists on Cove Road. The defendant also committed three counts of robbery and during police apprehension, did actively resist.
No injuries were reported, police said.

Patrikis is charged with second degree burglary, second degree robbery, two counts of third degree robbery, second degree mischief, aggravated cruelty to animals, second degree menacing, fourth degree possession of a dangerous weapon, third degree unauthorized use of vehicle and resisting arrest.
Patrikis will be arraigned on Thursday in First District Court in Hempstead.
