BRAHM acquires Springhaven property (wataugademocrat.com) — Blowing Rock's Art & History Museum has acquired the adjacent historic Springhaven property downtown, opening the door to future expansion and preservation of the area's character. Funded by an anonymous transformational gift, the purchase lets BRAHM plan new exhibits and programs while honoring the town's late-19th-century architecture and artistic heritage. Community members will help shape how the space serves Blowing Rock long term.
   

2. WMS/WHS JV roundup: Knights, Lady Wolverines claims cross country titles (wataugademocrat.com) — Blowing Rock Middle's volleyball team heads into the Watauga County tournament as the No. 4 seed after finishing the regular season 9-5, including a tight three-set loss to top-ranked Parkway. County teams will battle through quarterfinals, semifinals, and a championship at Watauga High School on Oct. 7, with Blowing Rock opening against Hardin Park for a shot at the semis.
   

3. Rumble strips, pavement markings to improve safety on U.S. 321 (wataugademocrat.com) — If you're driving between Blowing Rock and Boone on U.S. 321, expect slow-moving nighttime traffic as NCDOT contractors install new rumble strips and pavement markings for several miles. The safety upgrades, already used on another stretch of 321, are designed to alert drowsy or distracted drivers who drift from their lane and will continue nightly as weather allows.
   

4. Between Sun & Shade (ourstate.com) — A reflective nature essay follows a writer from Blowing Rock's Flat Top Mountain Trail to trout streams and coastal patios, exploring how animals and people balance sun and shade. Along the way, local wildlife like fawns, bobcats, and brook trout illustrate how light and shadow shape survival in North Carolina's mountains and beyond.
