Local officials stress that one storm can still flood NC 12, cut power, disrupt ferries, and force evacuations on Hatteras and Ocracoke. The piece explains updated National Hurricane Center tools, storm surge risks, evacuation and reentry rules, and how to prepare supplies and register for special medical needs assistance.

2. 3. Ocracoke Express passenger ferry service suspended due to adverse weather conditions (islandfreepress.org) — If you’re planning to head between Hatteras Village and Ocracoke today, the Ocracoke Express passenger ferry is temporarily shut down because of rough weather and will resume once conditions improve.
