Firefighters Find Dangerous Carbon Monoxide Levels Inside Newtown Home
Carbon monoxide alarm alerts firefighters to gas build-up; fortunately no one was affected by the gas.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Newtown Fire Rescue responded to a home over the weekend for a carbon monoxide alarm.
Upon investigation, the residence was found to have dangerous levels of carbon monoxide inside. Crews located the hazard and ventilated the dwelling to make it safe for occupants.
Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless gas that can be deadly. It’s produced by fuel-burning appliances like furnaces, stoves, fireplaces, and generators.

Symptoms of CO poisoning can include headache, dizziness, nausea, confusion, and fatigue.
“Be sure to always turn your car off and never let it run inside a garage," firefighters said.

Stay safe with these tips:
- Install CO alarms on every level of your home and near sleeping areas
- Test alarms monthly and replace batteries twice a year
- Never use a generator or grill indoors or in a garage
- Have heating systems and chimneys inspected annually
- If your CO alarm sounds, evacuate immediately and call 911
