Major DUI Checkpoint Planned This Weekend In Bucks

DOYLESTOWN, PA — A major multi-jurisdictional sobriety checkpoint will take place over the St. Patrick's Day weekend in Bucks County, the Bucks County DUI Task Force has announced.

Beginning at 10 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, and continuing until 3 a.m. on Sunday, March 15, more than 30 law enforcement officers will be stationed on Route 611 (Easton Road) in Warrington Township watching for signs of impaired drivers.

The operation is designed to deter impaired driving and ensure the safety of all motorists during one of the year’s most traveled holiday weekends.

“We want everyone to enjoy the St. Patrick’s Day festivities, but the message from my office and our law enforcement partners is clear: do not drink and drive,” said Bucks County District Attorney Joe Khan. “This is not a weekend to push your luck. If you plan on celebrating with alcohol or drugs, plan for a sober ride home before you head out.”

The checkpoint will feature a force of 30 officers from at least five different municipal departments across Bucks County, including Warrington Township, Bensalem Township, Middletown Township, Hilltown Township, Newtown Township and Newtown Borough.

The Task Force reminds the public that Pennsylvania has a zero-tolerance policy for impaired driving. To avoid a DUI arrest or a tragic accident, the District Attorney’s office recommends the following:

Plan Ahead

• Designate a sober driver or pre-schedule a rideshare service before the first drink is poured.

Be a Responsible Host

• If you are hosting a party, ensure your guests have a safe way home and offer non-alcoholic alternatives.

Report Danger

• If you observe a vehicle operating erratically or suspect a driver is impaired, pull over safely and dial 911.
