UPPER MAKEFIELD, PA — A Newtown ambulance was damaged Monday morning when a car took out its driver’s side mirror.

According to a Facebook posting by the Newtown Ambulance Squad, the unit was returning to the station from a call when a vehicle swerved into its lane and took out the driver’s side mirror, forcing it against the driver’s side window.

The driver failed to stop and sped away, the squad reported.

“We are disappointed that someone in our community would hit and run an ambulance, but thanks to the fast, efficient, and professional support of the Upper Makefield Police Department, the vehicle and operator were later located, and the appropriate actions were taken.”

The squad hopes to have the damage repaired before the next snowfall.
