Police Make DUI Arrests, Investigate Stolen Check In Newtown Township
The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between Jan. 10 and 15.
NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following arrests and incidents between Jan. 10 and 15:
January 10
- At 10:45 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Chevrolet SUV for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Richboro Road. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

- At 2:30 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Chevrolet pick-up truck for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Buck Road. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
January 14
- At 10:15 a.m., police received the report of a mailed check stolen from the Newtown Post Office. The resident was able to stop payment on the check before it was cashed and there was no financial loss, police said.
- At 11:30 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Jeep for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Newtown-Langhorne Road. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
