Traffic Stops, Fraud Reports, Thefts: Newtown Township Crime Report

Police responded to reports of thefts from vehicles, fraud attempts, and retail theft, and made arrests following traffic stops.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Newtown Township police responded to multiple incidents between February 6 and 12, including reports of thefts, fraud, and several traffic stops that led to further investigations.

On Feb. 6, a Newtown Township resident reported a theft from an unlocked vehicle parked at their home, with an approximate loss of $10. Later that day, another resident reported an attempted theft from a vehicle, which resulted in damage to the vehicle. A third resident reported receiving fraudulent emails for iPhone purchases but did not suffer a monetary loss after contacting their credit card company.

Police were dispatched to Ulta Beauty on Feb. 7 for a retail theft report from earlier in the day. The investigation is ongoing. On Feb. 9, a Wrightstown resident contacted police about a fraudulent payment received for an item sold on Facebook Marketplace, but no financial loss occurred.

Traffic stops led to further police action on several dates. On Feb. 8, police conducted a stop on the driver of a Ford sedan for a vehicle code violation near the Newtown Bypass and Woodbourne Road. During the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered and seized. Charges are pending.

On Feb. 10, a traffic stop involving the driver of a Ford van near the Newtown Bypass and Lindenhurst Road led to an arrest. The driver was taken into custody on an active arrest warrant from the Bucks County Sheriff’s Department and was transferred without incident. On Feb. 11, a Mazda sedan was impounded for further investigation following a traffic stop near Durham Road and Park Avenue for a vehicle code violation.

Another traffic stop occurred on Feb. 12, involving a Volkswagen driver near Richboro Road and Hanover Street for a vehicle code violation. The investigation resulted in the discovery and seizure of suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia. Charges are pending.
