Women’s Reproductive Rights Forum Convenes In Bucks County

NEWTOWN, PA — More than 80 people attended a Women’s Reproductive Rights Forum at the Bucks County Community College in Newtown hosted by Social Justice Indivisible and local partners.

The forum featured a panel discussion with local luminaries, including a nationally renowned attorney, the founder of a progressive advocacy organization, and medical professionals, all of whom are on the front lines of promoting and defending reproductive freedoms in the Commonwealth and nationwide.

"We're proud to partner with Social Justice Indivisible, Indivisible Bucks County, and the Indivisibles of Pennsylvania to raise awareness of the enormous consequences that this election has for reproductive freedom and women's rights - both here in Pennsylvania and nationally,” said Leah Greenberg, co-founder of Indivisible. “Our rights and freedoms are on the ballot, and we're making sure voters know just what's at stake."

“By voting for a national abortion ban, politicians like Brian Fitzpatrick have made women second class citizens in the country I risked my life to defend,” said Ashley Ehasz, a U.S. Army veteran who is running for U.S. Congress in Pennsylvania's 1st Congressional District. “Our service members and their families do not have the luxury of choosing where they live, and being stationed in a state with a Trump abortion ban harms their ability to receive the critical healthcare they need and continue serving our country. Our female service members - and all women - deserve better.”

Forum participants included Leah Greenberg, Ashley Ehasz, Dr. Anusha Viswanatha, Dr. Jess Klemens, and Kathryn Kolbert.

"The ability to make important and intimate decisions about whether or not to have children is on the ballot in this year's election,” said Kathryn Kolbert, the public interest attorney who argued the Planned Parenthood v. Casey case before the U.S. Supreme Court. “If you care about protecting these liberties, you have only one choice. Vote for the candidates who will protect your freedom."

Participating in the forum were Ashley Ehasz, U.S. Army veteran; Leah Greenberg, co-founder of Indivisible; Dr. Jess Klemens, a OBGYN serving Bucks, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties; Kathryn Kolbert, a public interest attorney who argued the Planned Parenthood v. Casey case at the U.S. Supreme Court; and Dr. Anusha Viswanatha, Pediatric Infectious Disease Physician; Social Justice Indivisible; and Indivisible Bucks County.
