Austin Medics Dispatched For Water Rescue
Emergency workers were called just before 7 p.m. to the western part of the city to rescue occupants of a partly submerged vehicle.
AUSTIN, TX — Medics on Wednesday evening rescued a motorist whose car became partially submerged in high water above the tires following a second consecutive day of heavy rains.
Austin-Travis County EMS were called to the 14000 block of Fitzhugh Road hourrs after heavy, flood-inducing rainfall pelted the city. Medics said they were able to extricate the driver, who sustained no injuries.
The incident is the latest in about two dozen water rescue calls medics have received since severe rain hit the area on Tuesday. Earlier on Wednesday, medics attempted to rescue a man who was swept away by flood waters only to find his lifeless body floating on Lady Bird Lake.
