'America's Got Talent' Winner Charged With Attacking Girlfriend

LOGAN, WV — "America's Got Talent" winner Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. has been arrested on domestic violence charges in West Virginia, news outlets reported.

Murphy's girlfriend reported he hit her in the face with a golf club, slammed her on the ground and then banged her head onto the sidewalk following an argument. He was charged Monday with domestic battery and domestic assault.

Murphy said in a statement he defended himself when she attacked him with a golf club and knife. He denied hitting her and said the argument came after his girlfriend, friends and family "trashed the home." (For more Across America news, click here to sign up for real-time news alerts. Murphy and his girlfriend have a 6-month-old child who was present during the altercation, the criminal complaint said.

He was freed on $3,500 bail. It's unclear if he has a lawyer.
