PHOTOS: Dangerous Winter Weather Wallops Much Of U.S.

Photos show the impact of the dangerous winter storm that has grounded hundreds of flights and closed many schools across the U.S.

ACROSS AMERICA — Dangerously cold temperatures with wind chills of 30 degrees below zero and colder affected the Rockies, Great Plains, Midwest and many other regions over the Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend. The severe cold and snow has grounded thousands of flights and led to hundreds of school cancellations across the country.

On Tuesday morning, thousands of people were digging themselves out of the several inches of snow from the latest blast. Temperatures are expected to be moderate midweek. However, a surge of colder air is forecasted to drop temperatures over the Northern Plains and Midwest and reach the Deep South by the end of the week.
