How To Make The Perfect Hard-Boiled Eggs For Easter

Easter 2022 is almost here — and while the bunny prepares to deliver baskets, you can prepare the eggs for dyeing by hard-boiling them ahead of the holiday.

Americans love their eggs. They eat an average of almost 300 eggs per year, according to the United Egg Producers.

Whether you plan to make deviled eggs or egg salad, this traditional hard-boiling technique should give you the perfect eggs for your Easter celebration.

  • Put eggs in a large pot and cover with cold water. Cover with the lid.
  • Heat eggs on high until the water starts to boil.
  • Turn off the heat, leave the pot covered and start a timer for 13 minutes.
  • Prep ice water bath in a large bowl.
  • Once the 13 minutes are up, remove eggs from the pot and immediately place them in the ice water bath until cool enough to peel or refrigerate.
  • Dry eggs and store in the refrigerator until ready to use.

To make eggs easier to peel, the American Egg Council recommends using eggs that are about seven to 10 days old when hard-boiling.
