Kansas Shooting: Indian Man Shot Dead By Gunman Who Allegedly Yelled 'Get Out Of My Country'
The accused gunman has been charged with first-degree murder.

OLATHE, KS — A Kansas man is in custody after he allegedly shot two Indian men at a bar on Wednesday, killing one and injuring the other. A third man, who apparently tried to intervene in the shooting, was also injured.
A witness, quoted by the Kansas City Star, heard the man yell, "get out of my country" before he shot the two Indian men. Olathe police identified the slain man as 32-year-old Srinivas Kuchibothla. The victims injured in the shooting were identified as Alok R. Madasani, 32, and Ian P. Grillot, 24.
The accused gunman, 51-year-old Adam Purinton, was taken into custody by police in Clinton, Missouri, after fleeing on foot from the scene of the shooting.

Purinton has been charged with one count of premeditated first-degree murder and two counts of attempted premeditated first-degree murder, according to the Henry County District Attorney's office. Purinton is currently in custody in Missouri, and the extradition process to Kansas could take anywhere between a couple of days or weeks.
Grillot, one of the survivors of the shooting, described what happened inside the bar from his hospital bed. He said he got under a table initially and thought he heard nine shots and assumed the magazine was empty. He then got up and proceeded to chase Purinton down to try to subdue him.

"I guess I miscounted," he said. "I got behind him, and he turned and fired a round at me."
Grillot was hit in the arm and the chest.
"I was just doing what anyone should have done for another human being," he said with tears streaming down his face.
Kuchibothla worked at Garmin, as did his co-worker, Madasani.
A GoFundMe page was set up to assist with Kuchibothla's funeral costs and to transport his body back to India.
"Srini was the kindest person you would meet, full of love, care and compassion for everyone. He never uttered a word of hatred, a simple gossip, or a careless comment," his GoFundMe page says. "He was brilliant, well mannered and simply an outstanding human being."
The FBI is investigating whether the shooting is a hate crime.
Sushma Swaraj, India's minister for External Affairs, addressed the shooting, saying the Indian government would make arrangements to bring Kuchibothla's body back to India.
