Massive Car Recall: 700K SUVs, Trucks Recalled For Safety Risks
450K Kia cars are recalled due to a fire risk, and more than 200K Chrysler trucks are recalled for a software malfunction.
Massive car recalls have impacted Kia and Chrysler this month, federal officials announced.
More than 450,000 Kia cars are being recalled due to a fire risk, and more than 200,000 Chrysler trucks are being recalled for a ABS control module software malfunction, federal officials say.
Kia America, Inc. is recalling certain 2020-2024 Telluride SUVs because the front power seat motor may overheat due to a stuck power seat slide knob, which can result in a fire while parked or driving. The total number of recalled vehicles is 462,869.

"Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will install a bracket for the power seat switch back covers and replace the seat slide knobs, free of charge," according to a recall notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed in July. Owners can contact Kia customer service directly at 1-800-333-4542.

Additionally, Chrysler has recalled more than 200,000 2022 Dodge Durango and Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks. "Due to a software malfunction, the ABS control module may disable the electronic stability control system," the recall notice said.
Dealers will update the ABS control module software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expecting to be mailed in July on that recall as well. Owners can contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403.
