Toronto-based singer-songwriter, guitarist, producer and recording engineer, Matthew Bailey is sharing Peachfruit, a collection of songs which investigate how memories shape our understandings of legacy, success, and identity.
Bailey views the record as a collection of short stories, with “Full - Time Hobby,” written during his stint as the touring guitarist for Andy Shauf, reflecting on Bailey’s journey navigating a career in the music industry.
This laidback dream pop track is hopeful and resilient as it reminds listeners to guard their passions and what means the most to them in life. “There’s beauty in searching, searching for something. A sound in your mind, a feeling worth trusting.”

Matthew Bailey crafted the songs which feature on Peachfruit during a month-long residency Artscape Gibraltar Point on Toronto Island in February 2020. Taking inspiration from the innocent themes and beautiful production of The Beach Boys’ Pet Sounds, Peachfruit features collaborations with fellow Toronto musicians Sandro Perri, Ivy Mairi (Bruce Peninsula, Lido Pimienta), Karen Ng (Andy Shauf, The Weather Station), and Dave Clark (Rheostatics, Gord Downie).
