YORK, PA — A voluntary recall is in place for a brand of white fudge animal cookies sold at Target.

The recall was issued by D. F. Stauffer Biscuit Co. for Market Pantry white fudge animal cookies because the snacks may contain pieces of metal wire, according to a notice posted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Market Pantry is a private-label brand associated with Target. The cookies were shipped to Target stores nationwide, according to the notice.

According to the notice, a piece of wire was found inside a jug of cookies. The cookies packaged in a 44-ounce clear plastic jug shaped like a bear.

The recall affects only the following best by date, lot numbers, and time stamps, printed on the back side of the bear jug on the product label, below the nutritional panel.

Officials are advising anyone who has purchased the recalled cookies to stop eating them and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
