SOUTH MILWAUKEE, WI -- Police in South Milwaukee say a man accused of killing a wheelchair-bound 62-year-old woman stabbed her a total of 116 times and disemboweled her. According to court charging documents, 30-year-old South Milwaukee resident Kehinde S. Afolayan has been charged with first-degree intentional homicide. If he is convicted, he faces life in prison without the possibility of parole.

According to the criminal complaint, following his arrest, Afolayan would not speak to police or identify himself. He was, however, uttering statements, such as, "Jesus forgives me," police said.

According to a WISN 12 report, the victim was identified as Deborah Lynch, a devoted parish member at the Oak Creek Assembly of God. Her church issued a statement Tuesday afternoon: "We are shocked and deeply saddened at the tragic loss of Deborah Lynch. She was part of our church family for nearly four decades. According to reports, as first-arriving officers were awaiting the arrival of emergency medical personnel, they saw Afolayan walk down the stairs from the apartment's second floor. Police said he was shirtless and holding a blood-covered undershirt.

Police said Afolayan was immediately arrested because he matched the description of the Lynch's assailant as provided by witnesses.

According to reports, arrangements were made to transport Lynch by Flight for Life to the hospital, but she was pronounced deceased before she could be loaded into the helicopter.

According to reports, following an autopsy conducted by the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's office, Lynch was stabbed a total of 116 times: 48 stab wounds to the chest including wounds to the heart, pulmonary artery and lungs. Fifty stab wounds were found in her abdomen including to the liver, colon, stomach and bowels. Eighteen stab wounds were found in her arms, shoulders and hands.

According to the criminal complaint, on the morning of Jan. 11, Lynch's son was awakened by the sounds of Afolayan yelling in the apartment. He had been living with the woman since October, reports stated.

Police searched the house, and discovered a bloody knife on the floor with a 12-centimeter blade.

According to jail records, Afolayan is being held in the Milwaukee County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
