Ragú Issues Nationwide Recall Of Plastic-Tainted Pasta Sauces

MOUNT PROSPECT, IL — A nationwide recall has been issued for certain Ragú pasta sauces that could be contaminated with plastic. Mizkan America, based in Mount Prospect, on Saturday voluntarily recalled five past sauce products due to plastic fragments. The recall applies to retail stores nationwide, including grocery chain Publix.

There were no reports of injuries or complaints, the company said in a news release. Mizkan voluntarily recalled the products out of an abundance of caution. Affected retail stores were notified of the voluntary recall. Those who were not contacted were not affected.

Consumers were asked to make sure the recalled products aren't in their refrigerators and pantries. Any recalled sauce should be thrown away.

The recalled sauces contain a cap code on the jar's yellow lid, as well as the best by dates. The sauces were produced between June 4 and June 8. Consumers who bought the products should call the company's customer service number to receive a replacement at 800-328-7248.
