VIRGINIA — Public school teachers in Virginia can make vastly different salaries, depending on which school district they work for.

Many top school districts in Northern Virginia pay their teachers in a range from $70,000 to $100,000, making the region one of the better in the nation for teacher salaries, according to Niche.

In the Alexandria City Public Schools, the average salary paid to teachers is one of the highest in the state at more than $100,000, while the lowest pay listed among the top 25 was Norton City Public Schools at about $47,000, according to Niche.
