Liberty Dining Helps Swipe Out Hunger for Hundreds of Students
Liberty Dining by Sodexo at Liberty University launched a program called Swipe Out Hunger to alleviate food insecurity for commuter students

In late September, Liberty Dining by Sodexo at Liberty University launched a program called Swipe Out Hunger to alleviate food insecurity for commuter students.
The nationally recognized campaign implemented in partnership with the Office of Student Life, Financial Aid, ID & Campus Services, and ADS has helped 266 Liberty University students to date.
“Sodexo’s commitment to the Swipe Out Hunger program is so important to fight food insecurity on our campus nationwide,” said Rachel Sanders, MPH, RD. “It’s estimated that 1 of 3 college-age students is food insecure. This is a significant problem that cannot be ignored.”

A student applicant simply completes a form, and upon review and acceptance, a twenty-meal swipe plan is loaded onto their student ID. Meal swipes can be redeemed at the Food Court at Reber-Thomas.
Commuter students are welcome to re-apply to the program as often as needed.

Liberty Dining donated 15,000 swipes to help commuter students who are experiencing food insecurity - and will continue to do this annually.
“I hope this program takes root on this campus and remains for years to come,” said Sanders. “I don’t think the need will go away anytime soon, but the Swipe Out Hunger program and the food pantry will help so much for those who are wondering from where their next well-balanced, satisfying meal will come.”
