Liberty Dining by Sodexo Adds Surprise Updates Over Spring Break
Over Spring Break, Liberty Dining implemented exciting updates within certain campus restaurants to surprise students upon their return
Over Liberty University’s Spring Break, Liberty Dining by Sodexo implemented exciting updates within certain campus restaurants to surprise students when they returned.
First update is SubConnection’s brand refresh from Sodexo. Colors in the space are lighter and brighter. A mobile order pick up area was added where employees slide mobile orders from their side of the counter and students pick up from the other side.
Based on survey feedback from past surveys and employees, it was decided that Hey Cow! would benefit from adding order kiosks. Hey Cow! is one of Liberty Dining’s original concepts which is very popular on campus, and there is currently only one register at which customers place orders. Over the break, two order kiosks were installed to help alleviate long lines and keep orders moving quickly.

The most momentous change was the food truck location within the Tilley Student Center. While The Hungry Herbivore launched in August 2022, the menu was not a success, which led the dining team to go back to the drawing board in January.
Marketing Manager Shelby Burton worked with the University Institutional Effectiveness office to create a survey where students were given a few cuisine options to choose from along with a sample menu and a write-in section.

Survey results showed that Mexican food was the most desired cuisine to be added to the food truck. An overwhelming amount of write-ins stated that students wanted a concept like Chipotle.
With this information, Liberty Dining created “Roadrunner: Mexican On The Go” where students enjoy build-your-own burritos/bowls, quesadillas, Chicken Talavera, and loaded queso, plus many a la cart items.
“There was a line at Roadrunner for the soft opening,” said Burton. “We’ll be attentive to student feedback and hope to expand the menu going into the Fall 2023 semester.”
Changes were revealed through social media outlets on the Friday leading to the students' return.
