NoVA, DC Weather: Thunderstorms, Damaging Winds In Forecast
Several rounds of storms and damaging winds are threatening Northern Virginia and DC on Monday. Here is what to expect in the NWS forecast.
VIRGINIA — After a soggy Sunday, rain showers and thunderstorms are expected to soak Maryland throughout Monday and into Tuesday, with strong storms possible that could cause wind damage, forecasters said.
Locally heavy rainfall is possible throughout the day, along with the potential for localized flooding in areas that received heavy rain on Sunday, the National Weather Service said.
“Scattered to numerous thunderstorms are expected to form this afternoon as a cold front approaches from the west. These storms could produce a few damaging wind gusts or heavy downpours,” the National Weather Service said in a tweet Monday morning.

Scattered showers and storms are possible in the evening with generally partly cloudy skies through the night. Some patchy fog is possible with lows pretty close to 70 in most spots.
