“Soul Night of the Arts” Returns to Liberty University
Liberty Dining Partners With The Office of Equity And Inclusion
On February 28th, Liberty University Dining by Sodexo partnered with the Office of Equity & Inclusion to bring back Soul Night of the Arts.
Students enjoyed soul food classics, including a jambalaya bar, shrimp and grits, fried okra, and classic chicken and waffles.
“It’s important to us as a company to work with diverse groups within the University since Sodexo has a large emphasis on diversity in the workplace,” said Sodexo District Manager Duke Davis. “Many African American students at Liberty University don’t always get to have a taste of home available to them, so we love to highlight food from other cultures and introduce a different style of food.”

Davis said there was such a positive response that they will be looking into adding some of the menu items from the event into the normal rotation within the dining hall.
This event, spearheaded by the Office of Equity & Inclusion, is a celebration of Black History Month and sharing culture through soul food and arts featuring staff members, young artists, and authors who shared their stories and testimonies.

“For some students, this was their first time every trying soul food and hearing more about the story behind soul food, with many remarking that they'd love to have it featured at the dining hall more often,” said Marketing Manager Shelby Burton.
