VA, DC Weather: Fog, 4 Days Of Rain In Weekend Forecast
Thunderstorms, scattered rain showers, humidity and fog are in the DC/VA forecast this weekend. Here's the latest.
WASHINGTON, DC — Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast for the District and northern Virginia on Friday, with fog expected to hamper driving conditions through 1 p.m. Low clouds will persist for much of the day, the National Weather Service said.
Maryland could get rained on from Friday through Monday, according to the forecast, as a front brings daily chances of rain, some storms, and humidity. Fog will return overnight Friday into early Saturday morning.
"While it’s still spring, a non-tropical area of low pressure currently located offshore will move through the Southeast from Friday through the weekend and bring a more summery, tropical feel to the region," AccuWeather Meteorologist Randy Adkins said.

The "tropical feel" to the weather will be due to a significant increase in humidity across the Eastern states, not necessarily above-average heat. Higher humidity, or more water vapor in the air, can trigger thunderstorms, according to forecasters.
"The higher humidity will be more reminiscent of mid-July as opposed to mid-May," Adkins said.

Those with weather-dependent weekend plans don't have much reason for hope. Much of the state will have 60 to 70 percent of rain Saturday and Sunday.
Forecasters predict mostly cloudy skies during Sunday night's blood moon and lunar eclipse.
