VA, DC Weather: Showers, Severe Storm Chances Throughout The Week
Rain and storms are in the DC and northern VA forecast all week, and some could be severe. See the hazardous weather outlook from the NWS.
VIRGINIA — Rain and thunderstorms are in the forecast all week for the District of Columbia and parts of northern Virginia, and some could be severe on Monday afternoon. A hazardous weather outlook for the DC region has been issued by the National Weather Service.
The outlook is for the Maryland portion of the Chesapeake Bay, tidal Potomac River, and I-95 corridor through central Maryland, northern Virginia, and District of Columbia.
An isolated severe thunderstorm with damaging winds and large hail is possible Monday afternoon and evening, mainly from the Fredericksburg area to southern Maryland, theNational Weather Service said. Then, a line of thunderstorms with locally damaging winds may approach the area late tonight.

Areas included in the hazardous weather outlook are: the District of Columbia, Prince William, Manassas, Manassas Park, Fairfax, Arlington, Falls Church, Alexandria, Stafford, Spotsylvania and King George.
Thunderstorms with damaging winds may continue across the area Tuesday morning. Isolated instances of flash flooding are also possible.

There is a threat of at least isolated severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind gusts and hail at times Wednesday afternoon through Friday.
"Late Monday evening into Tuesday morning, storms will likely continue into the Appalachians and Mid-Atlantic," AccuWeather.com said. "Cities such as Staunton, Virginia and Washington, D.C. may be impacted by storms during the predawn hours Tuesday
The record-setting heat wave in the Southwest is moving east and will start to influence the Baltimore-Washington region Monday, according to the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang.
"The hot and muggy weather will persist through the workweek, but the worst of the heat will remain to our west and south," the Post said. "Because we’ll lie in the transition zone between that stifling heat and cooler air to the north, we’ll be in a favorable spot for storms, which could be intense at times."

Monday: Isolated showers before noon, then isolated showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 92. West wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Monday Night: Isolated showers and thunderstorms before 11pm, then a chance of showers after 5am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 72. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Tuesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8am, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 8am and 11am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 87. North wind 3 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Tuesday Night: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 71. Light east wind. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Wednesday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 90. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Wednesday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Thursday: A chance of showers before 8am, then a chance of showers after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 90. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Thursday Night: A chance of showers before 8pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 8pm and 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 73. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Friday: A chance of showers between 8am and 2pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 93. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
