Prosecutor: Police Justified In Fatal Shooting Of 15-Year-Old Boy In Haymarket (Updated)
Police were justified in fatally shooting a 15-year-old boy last week in the 6800 block of Hartzell Hill Lane, Prince William County commonwealth's attorney Paul Ebert said Tuesday. Police were in fear of bodily harm or death, he said. The boy had mental-health issues, authorities said, and witnesses verified police accounts that the boy ignored multiple commands to put down a crowbar he had used to assault a girl.
Michael Vick: Dog Fighting Debate Resurfaces Over Virginia Tech Hall of Fame
Michael Vick dazzled fans both in college at Virginia Tech, where he led the Hokies to the 1999 national championship game, and in the NFL, where the quarterback was named to four Pro Bowls. Vick also spent 21 months in federal prison for bankrolling a vicious dog fighting ring in rural Virginia, so his coming induction into the Virginia Tech Sports Hall of Fame is drawing protests.

'Monster' Trees Sought In Loudoun County
Loudoun County is searching for what it calls "monsters," trees so big that officials want you to nominate them for Loudoun County's Big Tree Registry. The county already has 15 of Virginia's largest trees, called "champions" or "co-champions."
Richmond Confederate Protests: McLean Woman Charged
A McLean woman who participated in counter protests against a Confederate rally in Richmond this past weekend is being charged with wearing a mask at the Sept. 16 event. Richmond Police say Caroline Hill, 24, of McLean is one of four charged with wearing a mask in public.
