📰 News we're reading
1. Orange County applauded on vote that could impact data center and housing project (wjla.com) — A major Orange County vote has cast doubt on the massive Wilderness Crossing development, a project locals fear would worsen Route 3 congestion reaching Culpeper and Fredericksburg. Supervisors unanimously acknowledged a legal flaw in the zoning that enabled the project, while lawsuits and questions about traffic, historic battlefields, and environmental impacts continue to cloud its future.

2. Corn growers urged to stay vigilant against emerging fungal disease (henrycountyenterprise.com) — Corn growers in Culpeper County are being warned to watch closely for tar spot, a relatively new fungal disease in Virginia that can severely cut yields. Extension specialists urge local farmers to scout fields, choose tolerant hybrids, and contact their local Extension office quickly if they see suspicious black leaf spots so management steps can be planned for next season.

3. Campbell County neighbors continue push against proposed transmission line (wset.com) — A major Valley Link transmission line could eventually run from Campbell County toward Culpeper County, and Campbell neighbors are organizing a petition urging supervisors to oppose it before routes are finalized. The State Corporation Commission will review the project once Valley Link submits its proposal, so now is the key time for Culpeper-area residents to follow developments and share feedback on possible routes.
