Eating Healthy Tastes So Good At Roots: 2024 Fairfax Restaurant Week

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — Ever since its December 2022 opening in the Scout on the Circle development on Fairfax Boulevard, Roots Natural Kitchen has been helping Fairfax City diners to enjoy eating healthy.

"You never have to sacrifice on taste at Roots," said Larissa Caballero, Roots' director of advertising, told Patch. "We serve tasty, filling, and nutritious bowls that are easy as-is and customizable to fit any lifestyle. We make all our dressings in house. We strive to promote accessibility to natural foods. Kids under 12 eat free all day every day."

Roots Natural Kitchen is one of the 24 restaurants and bars in Fairfax City that will be participating in the 2024 Restaurant Week, which runs from Feb. 26 through March 3.

"Restaurant Week is that nudge our residents get twice a year that says dining out is a community event. Trying new restaurants, or trying new offerings at favorite places, is something we can do together and we invite other people to join us too,” said Fairfax City Mayor, Catherine Read. “Dining in the city can be a culinary trip around the world without needing a passport.”

Roots specializes in salads and grain bowls that are tasty, satisfying, and nutritious, according to Caballero.

"Our most popular grain bowl is the El Jefe with our adobe chicken, house made cilantro lime dressing, avocado, black beans, corn, pita chips and more," she said. "Our most popular salad is the pesto caesar with a combo of our house made pesto vinaigrette and caesar dressings with kale, bulgur, shaved parmesan, lime-pickled onions, pita chips and more."

During Restaurant Week, Roots will be offering a two for $10 special. Buy any bowl and any drink and only pay $10.

"We love being close to so many of our old customers from our university locations in Charlottesville, Richmond, Blacksburg and more, it felt like a reunion opening up here and has been so exciting to serve the NOVA area, the warm welcome was amazing," Caballero said.
