Red Light Cameras Tested In Fairfax
Another batch of red light cameras are being tested in Fairfax on Fairfax Boulevard and Main Street. Enforcement begins July 1.

FAIRFAX, VA — Fairfax Police began a 30-day grace period Thursday regarding new red light cameras at eastbound and westbound Fairfax Boulevard at Jermantown Road, and eastbound Main Street at Woodland Drive. Come July 1, though, enforcement will begin.
A study released last summer by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety found that red light camera programs in 79 large U.S. cities saved nearly 1,300 lives through 2014. On the flip side, cities that shut down such programs caused the rate of fatal red-light-running crashes to increase by 30 percent.
