AT&T to sponsor Volunteer Fairfax's VolunteerFest 2018

Volunteer Fairfax seeking proposals for VolunteerFest community projects

AT&T will be the presenting sponsor of VolunteerFest 2018, a signature event of Volunteer Fairfax, Rick Garza, president of the Volunteer Fairfax board of directors announced today.

VolunteerFest, an annual regional day of community service that takes place each fall, mobilizes hundreds of volunteers at project sites across the region to help nonprofits accomplish tasks that they typically would not have the time or resources to do.

“The culture of volunteerism is a positive force which aligns the willingness of individuals in our community to engage in helping meet regional needs,” said Garza. “VolunteerFest is a signature event in Fairfax County in that it promotes both the culture of volunteerism and the health of our community. We are honored to have AT&T on the team as our presenting sponsor for 2018.”

In addition to sponsoring VolunteerFest 2018, AT&T is supporting Volunteer Fairfax’s general operating fund as an Advocate Sponsor this year, according to Garza.

”At AT&T, we believe giving back is how we keep moving forward,” said Garrett McGuire, regional director of external and legislative affairs for AT&T. “That’s why we’re supporting Volunteer Fairfax for its work to inspire Northern Virginians to volunteer for programs in their communities.” AT&T has a long history of investing in projects that create learning opportunities, promote academic and economic achievement, and address community needs, according to McGuire.

The AT&T Aspire initiative uses innovation in education to drive student success in school and beyond. With a financial commitment of $450 million since 2008, AT&T is leveraging technology, relationships and social innovation to help all students make their biggest dreams a reality, according to McGuire.

Volunteer Fairfax engages thousands of volunteers of all ages each year and supports more than 600 member nonprofits and agencies who strive to make Northern Virginia a better place.

VolunteerFest 2018 activities are scheduled to take place Oct. 20 through Oct. 28, but will culminate in a flurry of projects, Saturday, Oct. 27, National Make a Difference Day. VolunteerFest opportunities typically include projects such as landscaping, supporting nonprofit thrift shops and helping at animal rescue shelters.
