VA Positive Coronavirus Rate Drops To Lowest Level Of Pandemic
The latest 7-day positive test rate average in Virginia was 5.5 percent as of Sept. 18, the lowest since the start of the pandemic.
VIRGINIA — More than 200,000 Americans have died from coronavirus-related complications as of Tuesday, far more deaths than in any other country, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. Brazil has reported 137,272 people have died from the coronavirus followed by 88,935 COVID-19 deaths reported in India.
In Virginia, state health officials reported 39 new deaths from the coronavirus and 872 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday. The state's cumulative case total stands at 142,010, while a total of 3,060 total deaths and 10,675 hospitalizations have been reported.
The latest seven-day positive test rate average was 5.5 percent as of Sept. 18, the lowest rate since the start of the coronavirus crisis, according to the Virginia Department of Health. As recently as Sept. 2, the seven-day positive average was 8 percent. Statewide, there have been 1,911,580 PCR test completed in Virginia, an increase of 12,943 from Monday.

There have been 16,979 total COVID-19 patients discharged from Virginia hospitals to date, according to the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association.

The association reports 113 total COVID-19 patients on ventilators and 213 in the intensive care units statewide. Ventilator use among all hospital patients is at 19 percent, and intensive care unit occupancy is at 75 percent. No hospitals are reporting difficulty obtaining personal protective equipment in the next 72 hours.

- Alexandria: 3,727 cases, 314 hospitalizations, 68 deaths; increase of 11 cases and two hospitalizations
- Arlington County: 3,855 cases, 494 hospitalizations, 148 deaths; increase of four cases, one hospitalization and one death
- Fairfax County: 20,373 cases, 2,143 hospitalizations, 583 deaths; increase of 72 cases, 15 hospitalizations and two deaths
- Fairfax City: 135 cases, 13 hospitalizations, seven deaths; increase of one case
- Falls Church: 68 cases, 12 hospitalizations, six deaths; no changes
- Loudoun County: 6,698 cases, 428 hospitalizations, 123 deaths; increase of 20 cases and two hospitalizations
- Manassas: 1,902 cases, 128 hospitalizations, 25 deaths; increase of 12 cases
- Manassas Park: 606 cases, 54 hospitalizations, seven deaths; removal of one case
- Prince William County: 12,183 cases, 901 hospitalizations, 201 deaths; increase of 61 cases, one hospitalization and two deaths
- Fredericksburg: 533 cases, 49 hospitalizations, six deaths; increase of 11 cases and one death
- Spotsylvania County: 2,099 cases, 132 hospitalizations, 44 deaths; increase of six cases, one hospitalization and one death
- Stafford County: 1,963 cases, 154 hospitalizations, 14 deaths; increase of 12 cases
