5 Easter Events Near Alexandria This Weekend

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- Easter is one weekend away, but there Easter-themed events going on around Alexandria Saturday and Sunday.

Here are some of the events going on in the area:

Easter Egg Hunt Around Old Town: Old Town, Alexandria, VA. April 7-April 9, free. The Old Town Boutique District is hosting its inaugural Easter Egg Hunt Friday through Sunday. Prizes include three Easter baskets valued at approximately $400. To participate, download a map online or pick one up at Pink & Brown Boutique (1129 King St.) or Fleurir Chocolates (704 Jefferson St.)Visit all participating boutiques and find a hidden egg. Bring your map to the counter for a stamp. Once you receive all the stamps, write your name, email and phone number on the back of the map and return it to Pink & Brown or Fleurir. Three winners will be chosen randomly.

Fairlington Easter Egg Hunt: Fairlington United Methodist Church 3900 King Street, Alexandria, VA. Saturday, April 8 10 a.m.-noon, free. The Easter Egg Hunt will be held on the church playground (rainy day location is Fellowship Hall). Aside from an egg hunt, the activities include a moon bounce, face painting, balloons, snacks, and pictures with the Easter Bunny. The egg hunt begins at 10:30am. West Alexandria Easter Egg Hunt: Angel Park, 201 W Taylor Run Pkwy Alexandria, VA. Saturday, April 8, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., free. Alexandria City Councilmember John Taylor Chapman is hosting his fifth annual Easter Egg Hunt. Come out for crafts, face painting, snacks, games and giveaways. Bring a basket to collect eggs.

Del Ray Easter Egg Hunt: Bellies & Babies, 1913 Mt. Vernon Avenue, Alexandria, VA. Sunday, April 9, 1 p.m.-3 p.m., free. This Easter Egg Hunt is for ages 5 and under. Bring your own basket. The Easter Bunny will be there to take pictures.

Springfield Mad Hatter Tea Party: Grand Court at Springfield Town Center, 6500 Springfield Mall, Springfield, VA 22150. Sunday, April 9, 1 p.m.-4 p.m., ticketed event. Join the Easter Bunny and his Alice in Wonderland friends for a Mad Hatter Tea Party. There will be tea, sweet treats, coloring, Easter craft activities and face painting for all. Get a special treat when you bring two books to donate to The Springfield Children’s Book Drive. Decorate a delicious Egg treat from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory for $8. Register by 3 p.m. Saturday.
