Area High School Going Through Leadership Shakeup: Reports
West Potomac's principal has stepped down, and the school's assistant principal has been placed on leave, say media reports.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Officials with the Fairfax County Public Schools plan to search for a new principal for West Potomac High School, following the resignation last week of Principal Alex Case, according to media reports.
Case announced his resignation on Friday in a letter to parents, radio station WTOP reported.
He has been succeeded on an interim basis by Dale Rumberger, a retired principal with 33 years of experience as a teacher and administrator in the Fairfax County system, according to a statement from Terry Dade, an assistant superintendent in the school system.

Prior to his resignation, Case had been on administrative leave from his position, WTOP reported.
Assistant Principal Michelle Lyttle has also been placed on administrative leave, according to school system officials, WUSA-TV Channel 9 reported.

West Potomac High School, near Route 1 south of the city of Alexandria, reported an enrollment of about 2,422 students for the 2015-'16 school year. The school has about 200 teachers and specialists.
