"Do More 24" FREE Community Event June 6

Join Good Shepherd Housing and Family Services for a FREE community event June 6 4-6 pm at St Aidan's Episcopal Church.

June 6 from 4-6 pm families are invited to gather at St Aidan's Episcopal Church for an afternoon of family fun.  Good Shepherd Housing and Family Services is hosting a free community event to encourage giving and raise awareness of need right here in our community.  Many area organizations and businesses will participate as sponsors for the event.  Join us for food and drinks, music and a visit from the fire department.

Art at the Center will host chalk drawing in the parking lot.  Families are asked to bring gently used books to donate to summer reading for children in need in our area.

The event is part of a larger national campaign, "Do More 24" to encourage giving during a 24 hour period on June 6 and to raise awareness of need right here in our community.

Local author and teacher, Alexis Conti will be signing copies of her new children's book, One Blue Shoe.  "This book brings forward the important issue of how many of our homeless neighbors are overlooked. To shed light on this reality with young readers is an important way to sensitize them and their parents to homelessness." said Shannon Steene, director of Good Shepherd Housing and Family Services.

St Aidan's Episcopal Church is located at 8531 Riverside Rd, Alexandria, VA 22308.
