Light Painting Celebrates Family Creativity on the Longest Night of the Year

On December 22 families gathered at Art at the Center to celebrate the longest night of the year with a unique art form using light to draw and paint.

The third annual Light the Night Community Art Event offered families the opportunity to explore drawing and painting with light.  Artists of all ages used flashlights and glow sticks to create lines, shapes, and symbols with light. Images were recorded on a camera using a slow shutter speed, which allowed the movement of the lights to be captured as lines and images against a dark background.

The event was free to the public and participants were asked to bring a new toy or book to donate to families in need in our area.  We collected a great assortment oftoys and books for donation to the outreach ministry of Rising Hope Mission Church.  Thanks to all who participated!
